Project: A project is a dedicated unique asset where the organizational resources a being applied to get that product on time, in budget and without any non-conformity to pre-defined specifications.

Project Management: It is the process where a project manager gets the charter to apply all the optimum resources to get it done using project management tools & techniques.

Difference between Tools & Techniques?

Tools are things project manager uses, on the same way techniques are the methods by which project manager uses them.

A technique is procedure or methodology that you need to follow. For example, there are instructions that how you need to use that machines or how to build a plan/ program for your project.

Clarity about Characteristics of Deliverable

A deliverable is a unique & verifiable product, service or a result produced by complete project management processes in all phases.

Proper Planning & Scheduling

You got the project charter and have all the authority to utilize all project resources provided as per your understanding to get optimum result. Grab the SoW, contractual documents to fix the milestones and then prepare WBS-work breakdown structure to the activity level.

Perform a Stakeholder Analysis

This is one of the commonly ignored by most of the project managers. This is one of the most critical for the success of any project. A stakeholder may have positive affect as well as negative affect on the project. A single key stakeholder can ruin all the effort.

Do a careful stakeholder’s analysis to prioritize and keep in radar all the time.

Defining Reporting Structure

Reporting defines your communication skills. After stakeholder analysis define to whom you need to send what. Define different reporting structure for different stakeholders. Like top management only need to know hitting on the millstones and about any critical item.

Define detailed reports as per demand from client or management – Avoid unnecessary information.

Procurement Management

You must know how to kneel this camel or you are simply out of the game.

Change Management
